After the procedure

How is the Pacemaker implanted?  |   Electrical Devices

Your pacemaker will be checked after your procedure and possibly again the next day to  ensure it is working properly.  Usually you will be sent home within six to 24 hrs after the procedure.

You may experience some discomfort and bruising around your pacemaker site. Regular paracetamol should relieve this discomfort.

Your doctor / nurse / cardiac technologist will discuss with you how to care for your wound site.

You will be given an information booklet about your new pacemaker before going home.

It is important that you read this and discuss any queries with your doctor / nurse / pacemaker technologist at this time.

Ask your cardiologist or GP about forms of identification, such as a medical alert bracelet, to indicate you have a pacemaker.

When home you will also be sent a pacemaker clinic appointment.
